to Blue Mountain Terrace (Inc), a registered tour
company and the brainchild of Franklin McGowan,
the present CEO. The Jamaican born Franklyn has
resided and operated businesses in Canada for over thirty-four
(34) years. Blue Mountain Terrace (Jamaica) has been operating
for over two years to date, and is endorsed by the Jamaica
Hotel and Tourist Association (JHTA). It has always been his hope and intention
to return to his Jamaican homeland as a contributor to its
overall economy; to find a way to make his many friends
and associates - from Canada, the United States of America
to the United Kingdom and other parts of the world - discover
the wondrous beauty of this ‘island paradise’
and ‘land of reggae music’ –
Jamaica!; and to enhance the nationalistic
spirit that is evoked in our people through the world of
sports.
And what better way than through
cycling!
There are many good arguments for purposeful
resuscitation of cycling in Jamaica, both as a professional
sport and as a recreational activity, and we hereby outline
a few:

Cycling is a very
positive response to our spiraling energy problems. |

It will expand and improve
the health and fitness of our nation, and provide
our youth with another option for wholesome recreation
and camaraderie building. To this end, we have suggested
to the Ministry of Education to introduce cycling
in the schools extracurricular activities, which
they are presently contemplating. |

With the completion of Highway
2000, and with our advantageous tourism product,
the way will be cleared for Jamaica to develop as
a prime location for international cycling. |
